Becoming a Y
BodyBalanced Yoga Teacher Trainings
The Origin Story
In 2015 I made a decision that after two decades of participating in countless yoga, fitness and wellness certifications, it was finally time to create my own. Over many years of studying with some magnificent teachers and understanding what resonated with me, in addition to thoughtfully reflecting on learnings and methodology that I didn't necessarily align with, I recognized that I was ready to cultivate, fine-tune and design my own style of movement and spirituality practice that I was confident to bring into the yoga community.

As a yoga studio owner, elite fitness trainer & coach and a formal educator in both post-secondary and public education forums, I have been blessed with a skill-set of professional program design and leadership skills that are characterized by:
-
offering engaging teaching styles appealing to all styles of learners
-
mindful & well-planned curriculum
-
a devotion to classical yoga philosophy with an understanding of how to apply these principles in a modern Western world
-
a deep commitment to intelligent and scientifically backed anatomy & biomechanics that respects the reality of who practices yoga

Believing in myself and what I had to offer was the best thing that I have ever done professionally, as I have now successfully graduated 12 groups of 200-hour Yoga Teachers, and each time I facilitate the program, I truly believe it becomes more aligned and successful with each group.
About the Program
The BodyBalanced Yoga Teacher Training program consists of 8 comprehensive modules that are typically offered over an 8 or 9 month period.
-
The live-in-person format normally runs one weekend a month and also consists of independent work and yoga immersion in the space between gatherings. The only exception to this is programs that are offered as immersions (where the learnings are condensed) and more remote trainings which may be hybrid models that support synchronistic platforms of online and live.
-
The online program is offered two Wednesday evenings per month and 2 Sunday afternoons a month. The Canadian Yoga Alliance acknowledges that the online format may be slightly more condensed that the live program, and thus the total hours are slightly lower that the in-person format although the content covered is the same.

The BodyBalanced Yoga Teacher Training is accredited by the Canadian Yoga Alliance which is the governing that audits yoga schools and offers successful graduates internationally recognized liability insurance.
